On 28 September, more than 1,000 news brands and media support agencies from over 100 countries will unite to mark World News Day, a moment to show the value of journalism.
The importance of public interest news is a cornerstone of the M20 Johannesburg Declaration, which issues an urgent call for the G20 leaders to safeguard information integrity and support efforts to sustain independent public interest journalism. The declaration also specifically calls on the M20 network to support World News Day as well as the International Day for Universal Access to Information and World Press Freedom Day, among other notable events on the media calendar.
This year’s theme for World News Day is “Know the facts. Understand what matters. Choose Trusted Journalism.”
It’s not too late to join.
